Pavel is like a really charismatic person who also happens to be prescribed adderall that you meet at a lame party where you don't know anyone. Pavel's personality also is the type that attracts smart, well rounded people like Artyom because Pavel is also a start, well rounded person too but with the distinct difference of being an intense person who doesn't struggle to make decisions under extreme pressure and be able to look good doing it. Pavel acts more like Rama from 'the Raid', as if he is always trying to escape from a collapsing building. Artyom has done heroic things many times but usually at the last bitter second, scraping by. I do not think that Artyom idolizes Pavel, but has what Artyom lacks, a pension for taking on never ending daily experience of 'almost dying' with a lighthearted attitude and a smile. Throughout the game, players can gain and lose points based on their choices and actions. ![]() One of the good things about this game is that it has two alternative endings, which are based on a hidden moral points system. Being the only gifted ranger under 30 and not appreciated probably gets tiring after the first year especially with the bosses daughter, acting like a real b word, strutting around the joint, getting all the good missions and accolades, looking down her nose at you for growing up in the Metro equivalent of Detroit, taking his promotions all while Artyom is tasked with replacing the heavy water cooler tanks.Īrtyom also mentions that he likes Pavel because he acts like a 'Hero'. Metro: Last Light is an exciting first-person shooter set in a post-nuclear war Moscow Metro. Meeting a similar aged guy with the same skill set as himself and a devil may care attitude probably was refreshing for the Artyom. Even though he became a Ranger at a implied, very young age, comparatively, Artyom is still a low level kid in the eyes of many. Hes now lives in Polis and basically spends time with guys a quit bit older then himself (with the exception of Ulman in the book who is closer to age to Artyom but comes off less of a joker, and possibly more meatheaded-ness). His hometown friends died at the end of 2033. You have to imagine that Artyom really does not have any 'friends'. We know this from th way Artyom talk about him in the diary logs. ![]() The problem is that at the end of the day Pavel's morals and loyalty make him have to choose the side of his convictions, reds, even though this makes him sad.Īrtyom on the other hand looks up to Pavel in some ways. A trustworthy, reliable guy who can handle himself in the metro beyond the capabilities of other experienced stalkers. Pavel likes Artyom be cause he is a solid guy. I think that its a more down to earth relationship (and subtext) between the two then we are not used to seeing in video games (or television for that matter). Then after playing the DLC Pavel plainly states that he really wanted Artyom to join the reds and that he did like him. I started liking Pavel again after hearing the aliens speech about how was sad to have to fight Artyom.
