1/19/2024 0 Comments Crazy penguin catapult 2 andoidYes, they're both cuddling and oh-so-harmless, but apparently they hate each others' guts, as the game for the iPhone and iPod Touch from Digital Chocolate pits one against the other and forces you to catapult penguins through fire rings and smash them through ice bricks to ultimately knock polar bears out cold.Īt first you get to walk your penguin from mission location to mission location on a heroes-style map. Each consists of two phases for the game.Įach of those missions gets harder in difficulty, but essentially they all rely on the same basic principles of game-style. At first, your task is to successfully launch a series of penguins through a targeted area with a catapult. The penguins bounce up and down on a rope, and your catapult operator penguing has to hit the bouncer at just the precise time to make it go to the next phase, where it will play its role as a live bomb to strike down those ferocious polar bears. In the final phase, you have to use the flying penguins that made it through the first round to destroy any ice barrier blocking the paths to the vicious polar bears down bellow. Wiping out the bears with a limited number of penguins takes a bit of luck and a lot of strategy, as you might have to sacrifice a couple of your troops to tunnel through the ice to get to the bears. Tapping the screen at just the right time to get your penguin through a narrow vent. After the penguins ricochet all over the place, bouncing for a limited number of bounces, you move on to the next available kamikaze up in the sky, and it takes on from where the other one left of.Įven though the storyline is not quite well spelled out for us from the beginning, the loading screen graphics and the subsequent missions tells us that those nasty polar bears were up to no good, they capture your penguin friends and it's up to you to put a stop to all this penguin killing. The game offers only a limited number of missions, even fewer in the lite version which is free to download in the AppStore, but even so, you'll definitely find yourself returning to each of them times over and giving them another shot, be it only for those awesome gimmicks and power-ups like the Super Bounce Penguins, the Ninja and Double Ninja or the Ice Breakers. The game in its full version is $4.99 in the AppStore, and they announced a new version to be available soon for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It's funny how people ascribe different personalities to animals. For instance, polar bears are always evil, and so are sea lions and sharks. Dogs are friendly, but their close relations, wolves, are not. Dolphins are happy and mischievous, elephants are a bit clumsy but smart, and penguins like nothing more than to play all day. Hence the latter's appearance in films (and games) like Happy Feet, where they dance, or Surf's Up, where they get around on surf boards. Presumably the penguins' playful reputation stems from their fondness for diving, as well as their frolics under water. But, hey, they're only doing it so they can munch the heads off fish. That's the bit everyone seems to ignore.Īnyway, Crazy Penguin Catapult is the latest game to choose the flightless birds as its fun-loving animal stars. Not that they're having too much fun here – in a quest to rescue their kidnapped penguin pals from the (evil) polar bears, their only hope is to catapult themselves at the unsuspecting vicious mammals in order to knock them out.
